Daniel Blochwitz is a photography specialist working as curator, artistic director, educator, publicist and advisor. The curatorial projects he is pursuing tend to focus on artistic positions—or certain aspects of them—that reside on the threshold of current art historical attention and discourses. Since 2017, he is also artistic director and curator of photo basel, the first and only art Baselfair in Switzerland dedicated to photography and related media. Previously, he has worked for contemporary art and photography galleries in New York and Zurich.
Blochwitz graduated with a MFA in Photography (with a minor in German Literature and Film) from the University of Florida in 2003. Afterwards, he attended the postgraduate Independent Study Program at the Whitney Museum in New York.
He lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland.
