Julian Rodriguez is Head of Film & Photography at Kingston University. He has guided some of the UK’s leading photographers including Tom Hunter, Dan Tobin Smith, Dan Holdsworth, Ed Reeve and Bettina von Zwehl. In 2007, he was instrumental in bringing The Stanley Kubrick Archive to the University of the Arts, London. Since 1994 he has written on both the influence of photography and its impact as historic documentation, writing predominantly for the British Journal of Photography, London, and Photographic District News, New York. He was Chair at the Deutsche Bank Photography Prize from 2003-2009 and is currently a writer for Taschen and The Photographers’ Gallery.
Julian is a Director of Impressions Gallery (Bradford, UK) which promotes new and challenging photography, an External Examiner for Photography and Film at UK Universities and is also is a member of the Advisory Board of The Rory Peck Trust – the only organisation dedicated to ensuring the safety and welfare of newsgatherers around the world.
