Under the imprint GOLIGA and based in Tokyo, Ivan Vartanian produces, edits, and publishes limited editions, experimental book works, and photography-based events. The principal objective of GOLIGA is to experiment with innovative ways of disseminating and engaging with photography.
Most recently, Ivan has produced a book-making performance with Daido Moriyama inside the Tate Modern and co-curated the exhibition Contemporary Japanese Photobooks held at The Photographers’ Gallery in London. He worked with Martin Parr on two quirky events based on the photographers’ images that took place in Tokyo in April 2013. Ivan Vartanian is the co-author of Japanese Photobooks of the 1960s & 70s (Aperture, 2009), and the author of ArtWork: Seeing Inside the Creative Process (Chronicle, 2011), among others.
