Limbs by Ross McDonnell

Jalalabad, Nangarhar. LIMBS. This series documents the improvised, hand-made prosthetics that were kept at the ICRC ORTHOPEDIC hospital in Jalalabad, Nangarhar, Afghanistan. Patients came to receive their new custom fitted limbs often left their old limbs behind. They were kept at the hopsital and displayed on the wall.

One health worker was quoted as saying “It would be impossible to count the number of people who have lost limbs as a result of conflict in Afghanistan”. There are no official records.
